Most children are fascinated by science and the world around them. Children with intellectual disabilities are no different. All children deserve to learn about the different branches of science. With the Every Student Succeeds Act, it is also a requirement.
The lessons I have created break down complex ideas into their simplest form, and provide you with a lesson plan, book, extra activities, visuals and assessments which allow your students to gain and retain important science curriculum. I recommend that you follow the lesson plans carefully, allowing for lots of repetition and practice. It is suggested that the units are taught over the course of at least a week. It has been my experience that students with significant cognitive disabilities can and enjoy learning key science concepts when given the necessary instruction, support, and enthusiasm of the teacher!
